Mario Time...

I did not think that I was going to be this person. I had no idea this kind of power could take over me.

Hello. My name is Angela, and I am a Wii-oholic.

Yes. It is true. I wake up in the morning and I want to beat world 8 on Super Mario that I am shaking! I want to squash flying turtles, find secret doors, and collect gold coins so bad, that I hear the the little "ding..ding...ding" that the coins make when you jump up and hit them. I get the most intense adrenalin rush when I reach a castle and I have ice power and beat the bad guy who lives there!!! There has to be someone else out there like me that has this problem...isn't there?

I got Super Mario for my birthday the first week in January and I am almost done with it. I hope anyway...because I can no longer live for Wii ...I just can't. But I want to...

Is that bad???

From bees to turtles...

I have a husband, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and approx. 50,000 bees. I can't feed anything else. I just don't have the time.

But my cute husband called from work to let me know that they found a "sand dollar sized baby turtle" and they had it in a box.

What is it about hearing the words "sand dollar sized baby turtle" that makes the "kid inside" you jump out with total excitement?!!?!?!? So of course I put my children who are dressed like cinderella and snow white with no shoes on in the car to go and see the turtle...

he's very cute, just like my husband.

So now I have a husband, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats and approx 50,000 bees...and a baby turtle.

But don't worry... we will release him this weekend into the creek at the park for all of you "do not keep wild animals as pets people" :)

Here is a child friendly, fun , honey filled, recipe...

for the kid inside you!

Honey Rice Crispy Snacks

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1-1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup multicolored candy sprinkles (or M & M's, whatever)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup Raisins or Peanuts
Preparation:
Put a piece of wax paper on a cookie sheet and on the table for rolling the balls. Combine powdered sugar, honey and peanut butter in a medium bowl. Stir until mixed well. Stir in cereal and raisins. Using hands, shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in sprinkles and place on a cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Cookies should feel firm when touched. Serve right away or place in tightly covered container and store in refrigerator.

Happy Weekend!

Haiti

My heart is broken. Every time I see the news and what has happen in Haiti my stomach and chest hurt. So many lives, so much tragedy. I am praying today for the people all over the world who have been affected by the earthquake.

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health as it goes well with your soul...

Portugese Sweet Bread

I started thinking about something today....

Portuguese Sweet Bread.

You can't get in Alabama....we are famous for greasy buttery melt in your mouth biscuits. But not Portuguese Sweet Bread.

I remember going to my VoVo's house (great grandmother who was from Portugal) when I was a little girl living in Fall River Massachusetts. She would slice a piece off the loaf for me and my brother and toast it just perfect and then smother it in butter and sugar!!!

I still can remember the smell of her house :)

So, here is a recipe and instead of dousing it with sugar try a little drizzle of Honey!

PORTUGUESE SWEET BREAD
1 c. sugar
1 yeast cake, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
4 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
5 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1 c. milk
Dissolve butter, sugar, a little salt in 1 cup of scalded hot milk. Cool to lukewarm, then combine all other ingredients. Knead until smooth. Grease 2 loaf pans, let rise in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Am I really turning 30?

I swear, I just turned 21...or was it 25? I can't remember but it sure wasn't 29!!
Am I really turning 30??????

So I looked at the years in the past decade and....yup I am. Next Wed, I will be T-H-I-R-T-Y...

*sigh*

I started to date my main drone bee (Christopher) when I turned 21...that was a fun crazy night! And no I do not do things like that anymore!

And then we got married when I was 22...

had our first baby at 24...

had another one at 26...

had some serious temper tantrums at 27, 28, and 29...

and now I am facing 30!

Maybe thirty means no more temper tantrums???

NAAAAA!
(That was for Melody, Ali, Amy and Lisa)

Well, I will see what happens...

So here is to saying good by to 2009 and hello to a 4th decade!

Cheers!

And Happy New year!
